Jubilee
It was the time of the year again. Mother's Day. Well, mothers are really important people and they gave birth to us after all. We should really thank them. And what better way to show our appreciation by ordering a cake from The Patissier?
The Patissier is a high end bakery which impresses the hell out of me for their designs and creativity. Their cakes and descriptions that come along with it on their website sound so good that for a period of time, I would go to www.thepatissier.com and just admire the pictures and read the words over and over again. This local bakery makes a lot of appearances on newspapers too. Every few months, somebody will rave about this patisserie.
The first cake I ever tried from them is their Passion fruit Meringue.
I remember the cake was very good. Although the website's description for this cake says that it is filled with passion fruit mousse, the mousse is amazingly light and it's not like othe mousse-y cakes you eat outside which is too creamy and heavy. I had second servings. Screw the diet plan. Its worth it.
For mother's day, I got my mother Jubilee.
It is actually a Banana spongecake, layered with banana cheesecake and passionfruit mousse. Again, this was the first time I ate a cheesecake which is so light. It's not like any cheesecake I've eaten before and it is certainly not anywhere similar to Marriott's Hotel version. It doesn't have the cheesy taste and I would say the pink layer which is covering the cake (I think that's the passionfruit) did not make the cake taste better. The pink layer is slightly sourish and the sourness of the outside layer did not go very well with the banana cheesecake. The banana spongecake layer was very good though. And I think they could have added more banana fruit inside. Despite all this, this is a refreshing and new cake to try. But if you must, out of the two reviewed here, its better to order the passion fruit meringue which cannot fail.
Before I tried Jubilee, I had sky high impression of The Patissier. I still do, but its a few levels lower because even a great bakery will have some average creations. However, somehow that makes me like them too because it shows that they are not infallible.
Anyway, for a pleasurable viewing experience, please visit their website and let some beauty into your lives with their wedding cakes, engagement cakes and birthday cakes. =)
