A picture can speak a zillion words. So here goes.
Doesn't the durian cake look pretty? Only with orders of a 2.5kg cake and above will your durian cake be lovingly adorned with big, fresh, sweet strawberries and other smaller berries. Those squarish looking things with icing sugar dusted on it are actually just sponge cake.
You know for A LOT of other cake shops that sell durian cakes, when you cut open and look inside, you will see at the very generous least 3/5 sponge layer and 2/5 durian mousse and some real durian fruit. But not so for the Goodwood Park's version!!!! HAHAHA. *excited laugher
Since GWP knows that the customer wants DURIAN, durian is what we will get. And tada! Inside, the cake is made up of 5/7 durian (lots of REAL durian) and 2/7 sponge layer. Seriously, the sponge layer is so little, you don't even taste much of it! It is almost like eating durian only. Isn't that great?
Yes, I know you can't differentiate between the durian layers and the sponge cake layers. I can't too! It doesn't matter as you don't have to dig for the durian parts as the durian is everywhere. This is an extremely good treat for anyone who loves durian.
If you're buying for people who even eat durian as a replacement for a proper meal, please buy at least the 2.5kg cake for 4 people. They will finish it all by 3 days. I should know. Haha. For 2.5kg or personalised cakes, please order 3 days in advance.

It was the time of the year again. Mother's Day. Well, mothers are really important people and they gave birth to us after all. We should really thank them. And what better way to show our appreciation by ordering a cake from The Patissier?
The Patissier is a high end bakery which impresses the hell out of me for their designs and creativity. Their cakes and descriptions that come along with it on their website sound so good that for a period of time, I would go to www.thepatissier.com and just admire the pictures and read the words over and over again. This local bakery makes a lot of appearances on newspapers too. Every few months, somebody will rave about this patisserie.
The first cake I ever tried from them is their Passion fruit Meringue.
I remember the cake was very good. Although the website's description for this cake says that it is filled with passion fruit mousse, the mousse is amazingly light and it's not like othe mousse-y cakes you eat outside which is too creamy and heavy. I had second servings. Screw the diet plan. Its worth it.
For mother's day, I got my mother Jubilee.
It is actually a Banana spongecake, layered with banana cheesecake and passionfruit mousse. Again, this was the first time I ate a cheesecake which is so light. It's not like any cheesecake I've eaten before and it is certainly not anywhere similar to Marriott's Hotel version. It doesn't have the cheesy taste and I would say the pink layer which is covering the cake (I think that's the passionfruit) did not make the cake taste better. The pink layer is slightly sourish and the sourness of the outside layer did not go very well with the banana cheesecake. The banana spongecake layer was very good though. And I think they could have added more banana fruit inside. Despite all this, this is a refreshing and new cake to try. But if you must, out of the two reviewed here, its better to order the passion fruit meringue which cannot fail.
Before I tried Jubilee, I had sky high impression of The Patissier. I still do, but its a few levels lower because even a great bakery will have some average creations. However, somehow that makes me like them too because it shows that they are not infallible.
Anyway, for a pleasurable viewing experience, please visit their website and let some beauty into your lives with their wedding cakes, engagement cakes and birthday cakes. =)

I guess Marriott Hotel is more famous for their cheese cakes than their chocolate cakes. Their cheese cakes are simply heavenly. And I'm not really a cheese cake fan in the first place. It was the first time that I ate a cheese cake that will melt in your mouth. Seriously, I have no idea how to describe the goodness. You'll have to try it yourself! Even today at the counter, the lady was gesturing towards the cheese cake and said something like, "I really really like this cheese cake the best!" And she was smiling in a way full of adoration like how one might marvel over something extremely incredible.
WELL. I know there IS still The Patissier's cheese cakes to try before I can truly say that Marriott Hotel's cheese cake is directly from heaven. And if anyone wanna buy me a cake from The Patissier, please feel free to do so. I will thank you from the bottom of my heart. =)
Back to the Marriott Hotel's chocolate cake (sorry I don't know the exact name)...
If you see the darker layer at the bottom, that is caused by the alcohol in the cake. It looks small, but its 1 kg. So you know what that means? The cake is heavy and rich! Filled with.... A woman's best friend (other than diamonds, by which, a diamond by any carat will still smell as sweet).
The cake is really smooth, and the chocolate is not too thick till you feel like puking. And the best part? It's not too sweet and with a slight hint of bitterness because of the dark chocolate! That is really a plus point. There's like only 1/7 of the cake that has sponge. The rest is simply chocolate. It wasn't those mousse kind too. However, the alcohol wasn't very strong. In fact it was mild. But hey, no complaints or whatsoever.
You can be like me, and pour yourself a glass of wine after enjoying the slice of the cake instead.
Cheers!
